Hey Baby Hey Baby HEY!

So, I made the decision yesterday that I want good music to listen to for....meditation purposes. I don't mean meditation in the goofy, New Age, Middle Eastern meditation to reach Nirvana, but for those quiet moments when I'm trying to think or reading and pouring through scripture. Something to help my ponderings to flow smoother.
I'm looking for something good, too. Something with significant musical substance, slower tempo and beat, but still fluid and moving. Something melodic and peaceful, not so boxy like punk or ska or rock. Does that make sense?
I know there are quite a few of you that read my blog, or at least have in the past. Mary, Glynis, Dani Beth to name a few, Khang, Steven Hill, and KB to name a few more. I hope somewhere between the six of you and everyone else that wasn't named I can find enough to put together a nice playlist.
I'm looking for anything from one specific song, to a really good artist, to something you heard once upon a time in an elevator or while on hold with Bank of America. I'll swing for anything Christian, classical, jazz, or maybe some decent New Age Enya type stuff. But, please don't be offended if I don't take to it. We're all different after all, aren't we?
Thanks!

Shawn McDonald has a new CD that's pretty awesome. Lately I've been listening to a lot of Robbie Seay, Bebo Norman... general chill Christian stuff. Phil Wickham is really good too, especially if you like John Mayer or something like that.

I like a lot of Jack Johnson too. He's really mellow.

Jazz... Harry Connick Jr.'s instrumental stuff is really good. I'm a big fan of classical, particularly Tchaikovsky (Waltz of the Flowers, etc.)

i read this blog pretty regularly. i just don't comment because i don't want you to think i'm obsessed with you even though i am.

you probably already know this, but andrew peterson is literally the best thing possible for calming down, concentrating, feeling good/uplifted. especially the Love and Thunder album.

the song "eyes" by Rogue Wave.
the song "winter's love" by animal collective.
the song "city calm down" by Architecture in Helsinki.
the song "paper tiger" by beck.
the song "beautiful world" by Colin Hay.
the songs "fireflies in a steel mill" and "would you come with me" by The Elected.
-if you aren't sensitive to the F word in songs, then anything by Her Space Holiday is perfect.
also anything by iron and wine and anything by imogen heap.
the album "daydreams" by Joe Pisapia
the song "beautiful boy" by john lennon.
and the song "at took on pingisland" by mark mothersbaugh.

sorry this list is overwhelming... i couldn't help myself.

I am unable to listen to songs with words while I read/study, so I am going to give you a little list of songs without words:

1. Samuel Barber: Adagio for Strings (it is said to be the most moving piece of music--I haven't heard every piece of music, but I think that assessment is correct)
2. Franz Liszt: Trois Etudes De Concert, No. 3: Un Sospiro (this is a beautiful piano work)
3. Explosions in The Sky (any of their songs from any album)
4. Nick Cave and Warren Ellis: Music from the Motion Picture the Assassination of Jesse James By the Coward Robert Ford (anything from this soundtrack)
5. Sigur Ros (any of the songs from any of their albums--there are words, but they are in Islandic...)
6. Unwed Sailor (for the most part)

I hope this helps!

Music is one of my favorite things in the world. Okay, so these are some of my favorite "typical worship style" artists: anything Christy Nockels and/or Watermark, Hillsong, Charlie Hall, Chris Tomlin...

"Made me glad", "From the inside out", "Need You here", "Mighty to save", "Worthy is the Lamb", "The Stand", and "At the Cross" - fave Hillsong songs

"Knees to the earth", "Mended", "Captivate us", "Hosanna" - fave Christy Nockels

And Nichole Nordeman is, in my opinion, one of the greatest Christian songwriters of this time. She's my favorite artist ever.

I have all this music... if you want, I could burn you a cd of some. Let me know. Good luck getting your playlist together! :)

One group that's got a pretty good CD that might work for you is the BJ Stewart Band...featuring our very own Sam Stewart. If you want to borrow the CD some time to give it a listen, let me know.
